Last month {before heading out of town} Tiffany, Hannah and I threw a baby shower for our friend and neighbor, Heather. When I asked her if she had any suggestions for the color or theme she said that she didn't like pink and as we talked she mentioned having just bought Little People's version of Bat Girl. I mentioned the possibility of doing something like a Baby Bat Girl theme and Heather's face instantly lit up. We were on to something :0) With some brainstorming and perusing of Pinterest, we came up with a Wonder Woman/Super Hero Comic Book Theme. After all, Heather's major had been Sequential Art, it would be different than any baby shower we'd thrown, but perfect for her!
Heather helped me with the graphics by illustrating superhero characters for each member of her family. They turned out being SO cute and it was fun to use her artwork as a motif. We incorporated some other super hero paraphernalia, made a comic book bunting, designed and printed off some action words, and Brie helped me make our own cityscape (with empty cereal boxes and silver spray paint). I always forget that the club house here at our complex dwarfs whatever decorations I bring, so it felt kind of sparse, but was fun nonetheless. I have to mention that Brie was my little setup sidekick. She really was my sidekick throughout all of it...cutting this, gluing that, helping however she could with her ever-willing 4 year old way. THANKS BRIE :0)
When: Friday 19 July 2013
Where: Park Forest Club house
What: Snacks*, Games & Prizes (Guess Wonder Mom's belt size, Multitasking Mom, Who's the Best Baby Artist?), Activities for our little side kicks (Team Gernhard coloring pages, cutout t-shirt capes, pin the super costume on Gernhard Girl, "the Incredibles") and Gifts.
*Included 4 dips: Brownie Batter Dip, Yogurt Fruit Dip, Hummus and Ranch with an assortment of things to dip (Brownies, Graham Crackers, Animal Crackers, Mini Marshmallows, Pretzels, Pita Chips, Cheetos, Celery, Carrots, Broccoli, Grapes and Strawberries). AND mini super hero packets of Pop Rocks to make your favorite dip POP!
It was laid back and fun and great to celebrate the super mom that Heather is and to share in the excitement of Dahlia joining their family.
Matt was wonderful to listen for the napping boys during the baby shower and Bry came afterwards to help get things packed up and to walk Brie home. Thanks to everyone who helped and came and made it a success :0)
