Shrek: the musical.

(this is my first attempt at using Photoshop's collage feature)

Last weekend Bry & I went OUT on a date for the first time in several months.  We bought the cheapest tickets available at the Muny, our friend Amanda Freeman was SO sweet to come sit in our apartment to listen for our sleeping kiddos, and off we went to see Shrek:the musical.  Bry being the gentleman that he is dropped me at the front to pick up our tickets at will call, parked the car in front of the Zoo and ran all the way down the hill to meet me.  What a man :0)  The weather could not have been any nicer; it was super pleasant with a slight breeze.  And it was beautiful to watch the sun set behind the stage and below the green trees on the horizon.  Our neighbor, Jerry Vogel, was one of the actors in the play and it was fun to come and support him.  There were some fun songs and the gingerbread cookie was my favorite (just like in the movie). And we had homemade caramel corn to snack on during the play (LOVE that they let you bring in your own food and drinks). But I have to admit that sitting 2 feet away from the free seating and BARELY being able to see the characters on the stage, didn't make for my most favorite theater experience.  It would have been great with a big screen for those of us in the nosebleed section ;0)...and would make a great venue for a concert, but in my opinion unless you pay big bucks for GOOD seats much closer to the stage, all of the acting gets lost with the distance.  Needless to say that having been told that Act 2 wasn't spectacular (thanks, Melissa!) we opted to leave at intermission.  We didn't have to deal with crowds and traffic and racing home to our babysitter.  Instead we leisurely strolled through Forest Park, hand in hand, back to our car....and stopped at QT on the way home for slurpees.  (Being just the two of us was a nice treat.)  To finish off the evening we laid our picnic blanket on our patch of grass out front and did a little star-gazing.  It was delightful.  Thanks for the date, Bry!

I am reading your blog! Now you don't have to fill me in on your date...got it all here. Sorry you left at intermission...that's saying something. :) Next time, might's well do the free seats, huh?
